WHAT? A national award winning faith formation program designed for young adults with a goal to build leaders for the future Church.

WHO? All young adults between 18 - 35 who seek to develop a deeper understanding of Catholic spirituality. High school seniors are eligible if they are graduating in 2005.

HOW?

  • Write a 2-3 page, 12-font typed spiritual autobiography (preferably in Word document format), describing your spiritual or religious awakening and development. You may include information on how you grew up (your family religious background, any significant events that impacted you or people who influenced your faith journey) and how you relate to God today (e.g. through the Mass, nature, music, friends, others). Due by September 30 for all Fall/Winter 2005 applicants.

  • Attend 10 out of 11 two-hour catechetical sessions offered at an Oakland County parish convenient to all participating scholarship candidates. Sessions will include the following topics: Faith, Theology, Sources of Revelation, the Church's Teaching Ministry (includes Catholic Social Teaching), Creation, Original Sin & Evil, the Person of Jesus, the Work of Jesus, Trinity, Church/Sacraments/Grace, Mary & Eschatology.

  • Read the chapters and/or articles assigned and submit a 2-page reflection sheet after each session.

  • Attend a retreat for young adults. A one-day retreat will be organized during the summer on a Saturday at no expense to the student. Other retreats may be substituted, but must be approved first by the Director.

  • Fulfill 20 hours of volunteer work in a service project at your parish or non-profit organization (must be approved by director) of your choice.

  • Work closely with a "project partner" or mentor who will be personally available to assist and support you in the process.

  • All requirements must be completed within one calendar year from the start date of the program, however students can realistically complete the program within a 2-3 month summer period.

SCHOLARSHIP DISBURSEMENT: Upon completion of all above requirements, the student must submit a copy of his/her tuition receipt to the Director. Scholarship money will be sent directly to the student's school.
