Leadership for Tomorrow
Earn a $750 scholarship to the college or university of your choice!
WHAT?
A national award winning faith formation program designed for young adults with
a goal to build leaders for the future Church.
WHO? All
young adults between 18 - 35 who seek to develop a deeper understanding of
Catholic spirituality. High school seniors are eligible if they are
graduating in 2005.
ADMISSION
REQUIREMENTS: Students will be admitted to the program in order
of preference, based upon: 1) Oakland County parish member or resident, 2)
Student at an Oakland County college or university (includes Oakland
University, Oakland Community College, Lawrence Technological University,
Madonna University - Orchard Lake campus only), 3) other students in the
Archdiocese of Detroit.
HOW?

Write a 2-3 page, 12-font typed
spiritual autobiography (preferably in Word document format), describing your spiritual or religious
awakening and development. You may include information on how you grew
up (your family religious background, any significant events that
impacted you or people who influenced your faith journey) and how you
relate to God today (e.g. through the Mass, nature, music, friends,
others). Due by September 30 for all Fall/Winter 2005 applicants.

Attend 10 out of 11
two-hour catechetical sessions offered at an Oakland County
parish convenient to all participating scholarship candidates. Sessions will include the following topics: Faith, Theology,
Sources of Revelation, the Church's Teaching Ministry (includes
Catholic Social Teaching), Creation, Original Sin & Evil, the
Person of Jesus, the Work of Jesus, Trinity, Church/Sacraments/Grace,
Mary & Eschatology.

Read the chapters and/or
articles assigned and submit a 2-page reflection sheet after each
session.

Attend a retreat for young
adults. A one-day retreat will be organized during the summer on a
Saturday at no expense to the student. Other retreats may be
substituted, but must be approved first by the Director.

Fulfill 20 hours of
volunteer work in a service project at your parish or non-profit
organization (must be approved by director) of your choice.

Work closely with a
"project partner" or mentor who will be personally available
to assist and support you in the process.

All requirements must be
completed within one calendar year from the start date of the
program, however students can realistically complete the program
within a 2-3 month summer period.
SCHOLARSHIP
DISBURSEMENT: Upon completion of all above requirements, the
student must submit a copy of his/her tuition receipt to the Director.
Scholarship money will be sent directly to the student's school.
